This is a project that was undertaken by the UNESCO/UNITWIN Chair in collaboration with College of Architectural and Engineering (UoN), Tekno International Kenya and KREP-Development Agency.  

The project was initiated in 2011 and aimed to seek innovative ways to address the chronic problem of water scarcity in Tulimani division in Mbooni West District, Makueni County.

In 1965, the Government of Kenya (GoK) produced one of the most well-thought through sessional papers ( Sessional Paper No. 10 on African Socialism and its Application to Kenya).The document, produced barely two years after the country’s independence, argued that accountability, integrity, mutual social responsibility and reciprocity formed the core values that would define Kenya’s national character.
