During the Youth Summit on 13th June 2019, Prof. Mulinge, informed the youth that they are the catalysts of change. He urged them to strive to be role models to their peers. According to him, for meaningful and constructive change to occur the youth have to re-orient their attitude, which he referred as being born again. Young people are fundamental drivers of social change but to achieve that standard, they have to shun blame and assume responsibility. They as well are the main victims of social hiccups including corruption, poverty, unemployment and poor governance.

“Elimika” & “Wajibu Wetu to be rebranded to “Elimika Wajibika-Vijana Amkeni”

“There is need to rebrand Elimika and Wajibu Wetu into one formidable and inclusive Programme. This rebranding will connect three circles of knowledge that is the University of Nairobi, Elimika and Wajibu Wetu,” said the UNESCO/UNITWIN Chair, Prof. Judith Bahemuka. “The youth programme is centered on facilitating young people’s active participation and engagement with systems, technologies, institutions and governments, towards finding space for expression and growth.”

Visit by FORD Foundations President to the University of Nairobi on 10th January 2019.

The visit by Ford Foundation President to the University of Nairobi was aimed at cementing the organizations voice in matters relating to Youth Empowerment. Mr. Walker urged the youth to overcome the challenges posed by inequalities. Giving a public lecture at the University of Nairobi’s Taifa Hall where he addressed several issues including, inequality, education, entrepreneurship, philanthropy.  Reflecting on his own life he observed that he had to overcome several challenges to be where he is today.
